Snickers "Kung Fu BEan"
Crouching tiger, hidden BEan...
This was a great project shot by one of my favourite directors, Mr Daniel Kleinman. I've been privileged to have worked with Mr K for several years, including a bit of music editing for one of his awesome Bond title sequences. He's great with comedy as well as big CGI productions, a real all-rounder and a genuinely fine man.
The spot (which came in multiple lengths and a couple of territory splits), was shot on an echoey sound stage with the usual props department scenery (not actual clay or stone), so almost nothing was usable from the the production sound (the notable exception being Bean's reaction as he is lifted up) so there was a lot of utilisation of loose tiles and bricks to build up the footsteps in the studio. I used a genuine Ming Dynasty feather duster to give the characters movements the Crouching Tiger treatment. Then it was a half day with Rowan in the booth reworking his vocalisations, plus all the other characters were re-voiced. All in all a lot of fun. Check out the online shorts which we made (again, pretty much from scratch from the audio perspective). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4tZVfK8UCo
